Marketing and Communications Coordinator-
(maternity cover)
Based in Durham, the hours of work are 18.5 per week, salary £19-£23k pro rata.

1. Implementation of the marketing and communication strategy for the company
2. Ensure the organisation develops effective ways of consulting with local people when developing services and activities
3. Manage the development of the organizations’ events and wellbeing activities
Main duties and responsibilities
Marketing & Communications Strategy
1. Raise the profile of the company in line with the marketing and communications strategy.
2. Develop and implement effective marketing and communications campaigns to raise awareness of the services and activities that are being delivered in line with the strategy.
3. Identify key partners and target audiences to target marketing and communications campaigns effectively.
4. Responsible for current internal communications to ensure that staff feel valued and are motivated towards achieving the objectives outlined in the Business Plan for 2010 – 2011.
5. Review and update any internal marketing and communications policies, procedures and strategies as and when required.
6. Ensure the consistent and effective use of brand identity and support the production and distribution of marketing materials. Utilize links with established regional and national campaigns as and when appropriate.
7. Ensure regular communications and build positive relationships with the local, regional and national media.
8. Build and maintain relationships with key representatives from partner organizations, stakeholders and other communications professionals to maximize any promotional opportunities.
9. Responsible for the organizations’ e-marketing and ensuring the updating of the website and ensuring the company has a presence on external websites.
10. Plan and promote the events programme and ensure the company has a presence at external events and community venues to raise the profile of the organisation.
11. Work with Senior Managers to support the implementation of efficient customer relationship management systems, which can be used to create a membership scheme for the existing customers.
12. Responsible for generating sales promotions and incentives alongside the Senior Management Team and relevant service Coordinators.
13. Responsible for organising any paid for advertising campaigns as and when required supporting campaigns to raise awareness.
14. Work alongside the Senior Management Team to review services and activities and opening times, pricing structure and customer services.
Market Research and Consultation
1. Work with project and service leads to ensure user engagement including involvement and consultation during the development of projects and services.
2. Support the creation and distribution of surveys and questionnaires.
3. Work with Senior Managers to ensure the application of qualitative and quantitative research surveys to explore demand within the community to ensure that activities and services meet identified needs.
4. Responsible for monitoring and evaluating the progress of marketing and communications and analyzing and interpreting data.
Person Specification
Essential:
1. Relevant vocational qualification to Level 4 or equivalent
2. Experience in PR, Communications or Marketing
3. Experience of methods and processes to engage customers/public
4. Media relations experience
5. Proven track record of writing effective press/media releases and articles
6. Track record of development of publicity and marketing information
7. Working in partnership with wide range of organizations
8. Excellent communication, networking and presentation skills
9. Ability to disseminate information in a user friendly format
10. Good organisational and time management skills
11. Independently mobile
12. Flexibility and willingness to work outside normal hours where required
Desirable:
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant field
2. Working knowledge of local press and media
3. Knowledge of Voluntary & community Sector
4. Production of communications and marketing strategies
5. Experience of income generation/fundraising
